Robert Creeley Lecture in Poetry & Poetics: Simone White, “expand into what?” [ZOOM webinar]
October 21, 2021 @ 7:30 pm - 9:00 pm
In her lecture “expand into what?,” poet, scholar, and professor Simone White will take up the contemporary need for performance in poetry and for poetry as performative event, in the context of poetry becoming more vulnerable to certain kinds of institutional capture. It will explore possibilities for the expansion of poetic practice today: How can linguistic experimentation draw out and even challenge or refuse poetry’s complex of relations with what commissions it?
