Sheila L. Cavanagh is an associate professor at York University, Toronto, Canada and co-editor of Somatechnics journal at EUP. She is former coordinator of the Sexuality Studies Program at York (2010-2014) and outgoing chair of the Canadian Sexuality Studies Association (2014-2016). Her research is in the area of gender and sexuality with a concentration on queer theory, transgender studies and Ettingerian psychoanalysis. Cavanagh edited a special double issue of TSQ: Transgender Studies Quarterly on psychoanalysis (2017) and co-edited Skin, Culture and Psychoanalysis (2013). She wrote Sexing the Teacher: School Sex Scandals and Queer Pedagogies (2007), Queering Bathrooms: Gender, Sexuality, and the Hygienic Imagination (2010) and is completing her third book titled Transgender and the Other Sexual Difference: an Ettingerian approach.
