Gather with members of the LGBTQ FSA in the Intercultural and Diversity Center for an informal informational talk, Q&A and conversation with Dr. Cody Mejur, visiting assistant professor with the Department of Media Study.

Video games are a powerful and growing entertainment medium and many queer and trans folks play, create, and share games related to their identities and communities. Cody Mejeur will share their own history with games from playing them, to studying them, to making them, followed by casual conversation and Q&A about how video games relate to queer and/or trans lives. Some projects introduced will include the LGBTQ Video Game Archive (an archive of queer content in games), Trans Folks Walking (a video game anthology of trans experiences), and Trans Narrative, Queer Play (a book project about embodied narrative in games and beyond). Dr. Cody Mejeur is Assistant Professor of Game Studies in the Department of Media Study. They have published on games pedagogy, visualization, and gendered narratives in games, and are currently game director for Trans Folks Walking, a narrative game anthology of trans experiences. They are co-director of Palah Light Lab, a queer/feminist new media lab at UB, and work with the LGBTQ+ Video Game Archive, One Shot: A Journal of Critical Games & Play, and the Digital Games Research Association. Learn more about Cody and their research online.
