Inaugural Robert Creeley Lecture and Celebration of Poetry, with invited lecturer Nathaniel Mackey (lecture begins at 3:15). There will also be a Jackson/Christian film of Creeley; the winning poet of the UB/riverrun high school poetry contest will read winning work; and people will be invited to read their favorite Creeley poem aloud.

2:00-5:00 at the Albright-Knox Art Gallery, an event to celebrate poetry as it is lived and studied in Buffalo and in the world. Following the showing of a brief film of Creeley–who taught for years at UB and actively fostered poetry and poets in the city–the winner of the UB English Department/Poetics Program and riverrun High School Poetry Prize will be announced. Prize-winning poet Nathaniel Mackey, the Reynolds Price Professor of Creative Writing at Duke University, will give the Inaugural Creeley Lecture, and audience attendants will be encouraged to honor Creeley through collected memories of the poet and the opportunity to hear and read his poems.

The conference is free for all UB faculty and students. Registration for others (before March 1):
