“Have a Look”: Get a glimpse inside the rehearsal & work room of AT BUFFALO

Join us for site-specific public rehearsals and work hours in one of the historic sites that appear in the AT BUFFALO narrative. Visitors are welcome to come and go, or stay for the entire time. Following the open rehearsal/work hour the AT BUFFALO team will host a community dialogue about themes from the musical and the 1901 Pan-American Exposition including race, citizenship, and inclusion.

A public conversation between the AT BUFFALO writing team and UB Prof. Christian Flaugh’s “Exposing Race Archives” class (FR 475/ TH 422 / TH 513) about the Museum’s “Darkest Africa” artifacts collections from the Pan-Am. The work will also involve transatlantic connections to archives about related world’s fairs in Europe. Brief examples from the musical will be shared, along with student presentations on France’s expositions universelles, and discussion topics will include race, performance, and the archive.
