Forum on Publishing in an Age of Upheaval: Part I

March 1, 2017 @ 7:30 pm - 8:30 pm

In Part One of our Forum on Publishing in an Age of Upheaval, editor/critic/author John Freeman and novelist Heather O’Neill will engage in a wide-ranging discussion of literary magazine publishing and editing, including issues of design and marketing. Ms O’Neill will read from and sign copies of her just-released novel, The Lonely Hearts Hotel (Riverhead). Freeman will also be signing copies of Freeman’s, the new literary anthology he edits, and his collection of interviews with contemporary writers, How to Read a Novelist.

Heather O’Neill is a novelist, poet, short-story writer, screenwriter, and essayist. Lullabies for Little Criminals, her debut novel, was published in 2006 to international critical acclaim and shortlisted for the Orange Prize for Fiction. Born and raised in Montreal, O’Neill lives there today with her daughter.

John Freeman was the editor of Granta until 2013. His books include How to Read a Novelist, Tales of Two Cities, and the forthcoming Tales of Two Americas. Maps, his debut collection of poems, will be published by Copper Canyon in October. He is executive editor at the Literary Hub and teaches at the New School and New York University. His work has appeared in the New Yorker, the New York Times, and the Paris Review and been translated into more than twenty languages.
