Film: “Mediterranea” (2015, Italy)

November 15, 2016 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

“Stop shooting blacks!” is the rallying cry at a street protest of African immigrants in southern Italy who made the dangerous journey from Africa to Italy in search of a better life.  After enduring a long trek through the deserts of North Africa and a treacherous crossing of the Mediterranean, they reached their goal but found their dreams unfulfilled. Instead of opportunity, they encountered economic hardship, hostility and violence punctuated only with occasional acts of kindness.  “Mediterranea” is a nuanced portrayal of survival, cultural contact and humanity.

This is an International Education Week 2016 keynote event.
