Embodied Research and Performance Research Workshops: AGA Collaborative, Performance & Lecture
April 14, 2017 @ 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm
FreePerformance of win.place.show.
win. place. show. investigates a set of interrelated themes: the pressures of accomplishment and achievement, the demands of perpetual productivity, and the many ways of “being” in the daily race.
Lecture, “Walking in the Academy.”
The performance is followed by a talk given by dance dramaturg Jeanmarie Higgins, “Walking in the Academy,” that positions Marxist space theorist Michel de Certeau’s notion of “walking” as a navigational tactic in AGA Collaborative’s feminist work process.
Part of the AGA Collaborative Residency at the University of Buffalo.
AGA Collaborative is a choreographic collaboration between Gretchen Alterowitz, Alison Bory, Amanda Hamp, and Jeanmarie Higgins. They approach choreography as an act of research – into the experience of being, what the language of the body can communicate, and how bodies on stage can speak to the world. Prioritizing intimacy and connection over bodily display, their work offers alternative ways of watching female bodies perform.
