DiSC Workshop: Encoding Primary Sources for Digital Editing and Research

October 31, 2015 @ 10:00 am - 2:00 pm

Learn to encode print or manuscript documents and create a simple annotated digital edition or other enhanced document collection for the web. Additional tools will be discussed for processing encoded texts and metadata for research purposes including mapping (GIS), text visualization, and generating a simple database. No previous technical skills or knowledge required.

Led by Nikolaus Wasmoen, Department of English (nlwasmoe@buffalo.edu). Nikolaus has worked for a range of digital humanities projects including the William Blake Archive, ModNets, and, most recently, UB’s new Marianne Moore Notebook Project.
