Dept. of Romance Languages and Literatures, Earth Month Film Series: “Sunú—Mexican Maize Farmers”
April 30 @ 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm
For Earth Month (April), the Department of Romance Languages and Literatures is offering a film series loosely based on farming and food production. All films are free and open to the public.
For more information, Prof. Colleen Culleton at culleton@buffalo.edu
The fourth film in this month-long series will be Sunú—Mexican Maize Farmers (Dir. Teresa Camou, 2015). Spanish with English subtitles.
Seen through the eyes of small, midsize and large Mexican maize producers, SUNÚ knits together different stories from a threatened rural world. This film documents how people realize their determination to stay free, to work the land and cultivate their seeds, to be true to their cultures and forms of spirituality, all in a modern world where corn is being threatened at the center of its origin: Mexico.
