Julilly Kohler-Hausmann Assistant Professor of History, Cornell University

Professor Kohler-Hausmann is the author of the book “Getting Tough: Welfare and Imprisonment in 1970s America”. Her talk will be on the intersections between welfare and criminal justice policies, in particular how intensifications of punitive practices in the carceral system were rhetorically and operationally coordinated with the dismantling of the welfare system at the state and federal levels from the 1970s forward.
