Please join the UB Department of English on Friday, April 12 for a day of events to celebrate the remarkable career of Cristanne Miller, SUNY Distinguished Professor and current holder of the Edward H. Butler Professorship in English Literature. These events are free and open to the public.

About Cristanne Miller

Professor Miller served as Chair of English 2006-2013 and 2015-2017. In 2017 she received the UB President’s Medal for Excellence in Scholarship and Service. Since 2019, she has served as Director of the UB Arts Management Program. An internationally renowned editor and literary critic, Professor Miller is author of numerous articles and books of criticism, including Emily Dickinson: A Poet’s Grammar (1987), Marianne Moore: Questions of Authority (1995), Cultures of Modernism: Marianne Moore, Mina Loy, and Else Lask-Schüler (2005), and Reading in Time: Emily Dickinson in the Nineteenth Centure (2012). She has published important scholarly editions of Dickinson: Emily Dickinson’s Poems: As She Preserved Them (2016) and The Letter of Emily Dickinson (2024). Professor Miller also directs the Marianne Moore Digital Archive, an innovative digital humanities project publishing Moore’s notebooks.
