During her tenure at Radiolab, Horne played a wide variety of roles – from reporting, writing, and editing to directing Radiolab’s theatrical stage shows. Now, Horne is the co-founder of Story Mechanics (along with her husband, Charles Michelet), an audio production company specializing in podcasts, musical scoring, and character-driven audio content for apps. Horne also teaches courses in audio journalism for graduate students at NYU and Columbia University.
Working with Alex Gibney, Horne produced the Luminary Podcast “Lies We Tell,” a series which she plans to discuss during her presentation. A chapter from Podcasting: The Audio Media Revolutionthat features Horne’s discussion of Radiolab can be found here. Brief remarks addressed to the students who are enrolled in PLASMA as a course will begin at 6:00 PM sharp. ELLEN HORNE’s presentation will begin at 6:15 pm EST. Horne’s presentation will be followed by a question and answer exchange with the audience.
As always, PLASMA lectures are free and open to the UB community and the public.
PLASMA is sponsored by the University at Buffalo’s Department of Media Study and funding is provided by the Office of the Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences.
