The Humanities Institute at the University at Buffalo is seeking a new Director beginning Fall 2022. We invite applications from CAS colleagues who are full professors (by time of appointment: 8/1/22) with a demonstrated commitment to Humanities Institute programming and development to serve in a renewable 3-year leadership position. A crucial team organizer and public-facing scholar, the Director works closely with the Executive Director, Executive Committee, HI staff and community representatives to shape a wide range of public humanities initiatives, in particular the Fall Buffalo Humanities Festival, a multi-institutional collaboration, and the Spring Humanities to the Rescue Showcase. Since its inception in 2005, the Humanities Institute has fostered interdisciplinary dialogue, cultivated inclusive and dynamic forums for rigorous innovative research, and created opportunities for collaborations between our UB colleagues and the richly layered community of Buffalo artists, researchers and scholars. The new Director will work with the Executive Director to amplify the academic and public footprints of the Humanities Institute and continue to support original and collaborative forms of critical inquiry in search for humanistic responses to the complex challenges of our time.
