Discussion) Community Benefits Agreements:Development by the People for the People of Buffalo

February 25, 2016 @ 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm

This event is important for anyone who wants the people of Buffalo to take the lead in creating the city’s future.

Community Benefits Agreements (CBAs) can make the difference between projects that benefit only a few and projects that can create racial and economic justice in our region.

The speakers on the panel will present the latest research on how to negotiate strong, accountable CBAs and what it takes to enforce them once development projects are underway.

The panel will feature Prof. Robert Silverman of the UB Center for Urban Studies as well as two local activists Sam Magavern of Open Buffalo and the Partnership for the Public Good and John Washington of PUSH Buffalo. Prof. Carl Nightingale will moderate.

Event co-sponsored by the City and Society Research Workshop, the Community Engagement and Public Policy Research Initiative
